On October 2, 2026, the Project RISE community convened at the University Amphitheater for a memorable gathering centered on partnership, generosity, and an unyielding commitment to early literacy. The event brought together Reading Ambassadors, generous donors, dedicated educators, and strategic project partners who continuously give their time, expertise, and resources to empower young readers. More than just a formal recognition event, the gathering offered a meaningful space to acknowledge key contributions, reflect on shared accomplishments, and reaffirm a unified vision: ensuring every child receives the support, resources, and encouragement needed to build a strong reading foundation.
A central highlight of the program was an insightful presentation delivered by Prof. Ruben L. Abucayon, PhD, detailing the extensive activities and contributions of Project RISE donors and Reading Ambassadors. The presentation illustrated the multifaceted ways stakeholders have backed the initiative—ranging from providing essential instructional materials and funding literacy resources to directly facilitating reading sessions and community outreach activities. Prof. Abucayon emphasized that this sustained grassroots and institutional support forms the backbone of Project RISE, turning educational concepts into vibrant, real-world learning opportunities for young students.
The heart of the event lay in the personal stories and reflections shared by Reading Ambassadors and project partners, who offered firsthand perspectives on the profound impact of literacy work. Reading Ambassadors Ms. Belle Dorothy B. Oberas and Mr. Phillip John M. Banguis highlighted the joy and inspiration that come from directly engaging young learners through stories, while Asst. Prof. Carminia Borja reflected on the professional and community synergies created when educators and partners unite around a shared educational mission. Adding to these perspectives, Ms. Honey Swiert Larayos-Susmiran and Ms. Lorecelle P. Villaroya offered moving insights into navigating challenges, fostering student confidence, and witnessing meaningful growth in early-grade readers. Each testimony served as a powerful reminder that behind every successful literacy initiative are compassionate individuals willing to dedicate their time, talents, and resources to make a tangible difference.
The "RISE Together" gathering demonstrated that lasting educational progress relies on a strong, supportive community. By bringing together educators, donors, volunteers, and academic leaders, Project RISE continues to cultivate an ecosystem where reading is celebrated and accessible to every child. The event concluded on a note of deep gratitude and renewed enthusiasm, affirming that when a community stands together in support of early-grade readers, brighter educational futures are built for all.
