Reading ambassadors with the RISE Team
Project RISE successfully concluded its Culmination Activity for Reading Ambassadors on the afternoon of May 6, 2026—an inspiring celebration of dedication, collaboration, and commitment to literacy development. The event highlighted the invaluable contributions of the Reading Ambassadors and recognized their meaningful role in supporting early reading initiatives among Grade 1 learners.
The program formally opened with a warm Welcome Message delivered by Vita S. Caparoso, who emphasized the importance of service, passion, and collaboration in nurturing young readers and shaping future educators.
The Reading Ambassadors, composed of passionate pre-service teachers under the guidance of Prof. Grageda and Asst. Prof. Caparoso, were deployed to assist in the recently conducted post-assessment of Grade 1 learners. Their active participation provided valuable support in evaluating learners’ reading progress while also giving them meaningful hands-on teaching experience in authentic classroom settings.
One of the major highlights of the activity was the segment entitled “Voices of the Reading Ambassadors: Sharing Our Journey,” where selected ambassadors shared their experiences and reflections throughout the assessment process. Insightful testimonies were presented by Joeris Lloyd C. Banwag; Haifah M. Lidasan and Kersha Berlin V. Pardillo; Jehan A. Utara; and Najmerah B. Ismael together with Jirah S. Salic. They spoke about the challenges they encountered, the strategies they employed, and the fulfillment they experienced while engaging with young learners—making their stories both inspiring and impactful.
The event also featured Words of Appreciation from Ruben L. Abucayon, who commended the Reading Ambassadors for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to advancing literacy education through community engagement and service. To formally conclude the activity, Shelanee Theresa P. Ruales delivered the Closing Remarks, encouraging the participants to continue serving as advocates of literacy and lifelong learning.
With a total of 40 students in attendance, the culmination activity was filled with enthusiasm, reflection, and shared purpose. More than recognizing the efforts of the Reading Ambassadors, the event underscored the importance of collaborative initiatives in strengthening early literacy and empowering future educators to make a lasting impact in the lives of young learners.
