Prof. Wim shares his insights on the project training with the RISE team
On October 3 and 4, the team, along with Prof. Wim, sat down to plan the upcoming activities for the project's first year. The RISE team thoroughly designed the training structure for these educators. To effectively prepare for next year's training and to serve as co-creators and lecturers for the selected teachers, the team recognized the need to develop a comprehensive and well-thought-out plan.
This plan includes a two-phase training structure, teacher preparation, material development based on specific lessons, alignment of training with lesson plan needs, lesson plan development, handbook creation, determination of lesson plan format, action research training, and the recruitment and training of reading ambassadors for both parents and dynamic learners. The team also acknowledged the principals' request for a formal program and memorandum regarding the signing of the Grade 1 teachers' pledge of commitment. Prof. Van Petegem suggested including a detailed list of teacher responsibilities in the pledge or contract. The team will draft a contract of agreement and request a Statement of Objectives (SO) for the activity. Additionally, a memorandum outlining the duties and responsibilities of participating teachers will be requested from DepEd. In light of the team's concerns about the volume of materials to be created, they will revise the training structure to include 12 Saturday training sessions starting in January.
